Horns of Consecration, 2013

Horns of Consecration 2013
Tallest: 30cm high

These pieces are based on the "elegant" and symbolic horned forms illuminating the rich ceremonial life of old European temples.

The horns of a bull resembled the uterine shape; they also recalled the crescent moon, which is an attribute of the Goddess. Their association with the rites of seasonal regeneration symbolized new life.

In forms that are gestural and elemental I am recalling an ancient spirituality that has significance and relevance today.
